Tag 2 > Tag 9

Tag 11

Check out Nach dem Frühstück und dem Aussteigen am Morgen Transfer zum internationalen Flughafen Male bis spätestens 09:00 Uhr.

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

    What is Green Tax?

Green tax is a tax payable by tourists who stay in tourist resorts, tourist hotels and tourist vessels. It is also payable by tourists who stay in tourist guesthouses from 1 October 2016 onwards. Green tax is payable at the rate of 6 United States Dollars per day of stay from tourist resorts, tourist hotels and tourist vessels, and 3 United States Dollars per day of stay from tourist guesthouses. Maldivians and resident permit holders are not required to pay Green Tax.

Green Tax liable tourist establishments will be automatically registered for Green Tax, in the name of the operating license holder, from the date on which the Ministry of Tourism issues the operating license. For foreign tourist vessels, the local agent is required to register for the Green Tax. Hence, the local agent is responsible for filing tax returns and payment of Green Tax.

The Green Tax Return must be filed and the payment of Green Tax must be made monthly, on or before 28th of the following month. (More on:

    How to get there?

If your cruise departure is from Male, transfers are organized from the airport at 12:30 & 16:00. Guests should take an international flight that arrives before these times. At these two times, our representative will dock right at the airport pier (almost like a boat taxi stand) and transfer the guests straight to the boat.

We recommend booking an early arrival into, and a late departure from Male airport, so you can easily make the domestic connection. Upon arrival at Male airport, you will be greeted by a representative from Voyages Maldives. Please look for them in the arrivals hall. They will have a sign displaying the blue o two logos. Voyages Maldives will advise and assist you with your onward domestic flight transfer. They also have a counter No. 34 located in the arrivals hall. If your domestic flight is scheduled to leave within 2 hrs of your arrival into Male, the representative will escort you to the domestic terminal for your flight to Gan or Kooddoo, from where your boat departs. If your domestic flight is scheduled to leave more than 2 hours from your arrival into Male, please check-in at the Voyages Maldives counter.

    Alcohol drinks?

Alcohol is available for purchase on board M/V Blue Spirit, however it is not permitted to bring alcohol into the Maldives so please do not buy any duty free alcohol in the airports.

    Minimum Experience

Diving in the Maldives, especially from liveaboards, is for more experienced divers that are certified to a depth of at least 30 meters and are comfortable with moderate to strong currents. For your comfort, we recommend that divers have a minimum of 30 logged dives for most itineraries. Negative entries and drift dives are to be expected. For southern itineraries the currents tend to be strong and the water is deeper so we recommend that divers have a minimum of 100 logged dives.

    Night Dives

Night diving in the Maldives is more difficult due to the currents and it is not always possible. In the Central and Northern Maldives, there is often one or two night dives offered per week, at the discretion of the captain and dive guides. In the Southern Maldives, night dives are not possible due to the strong currents.

    Internet

We provide all guests with 250 MB internet data, free of charge, when they arrive on board. Additional 1GB, 2GB or 5GB data packages can be purchased on board should you need more internet access during your cruise.

Please note that, although wifi on board and internet access is available in many areas throughout the Maldives, we can not guarantee a continuous service for the entirety of your cruise, especially when visiting more remote, southern areas.

Luggage storage before your flight home

Once you have disembarked the liveaboard vessel, you may have some time before your flight home in which you may want to explore the local area. There is the option to store your luggage at Male Airport in a luggage room at the cost of $5 per item or $10 per over-sized/heavy item. This can be found by visiting the main information desk in the airport.

    Equipment

According to the Maldivian government (MOT), all divers should carry the following with them during all recreation diving activities:

    a) Mask, snorkel & fins

    b) Regulator with submersible pressure gauge and alternative air source or redundant air supply

    c) Buoyancy Compensator Device (BCD) vest with oral and low pressure inflator

    d) Time and depth measuring device

    e) Emergency signalling device comprising inflatable surface balloon and whistle

During all night diving activities divers should be equipped with:

    f) Underwater torch and night signalling device (per diver)

    g) Surface marker buoy (SMB)

While the weather in the Maldives at this time of year is likely to be more variable, these monsoon conditions are exactly what create the planktonic flowers that mantas and whale sharks gather to feed on. In addition, we can never guarantee these natural events, but we have set up a trip that maximizes our changes of being in the right place at the right time. BAA ATOLL is off the main road for the majority of diving cruises and we will venture to this atoll further north specifically to search for nurse mantas and, hopefully, whale sharks as well. Most of the world's largest fish feeding on dozens of the world's largest rays is something most people will never forget. Possibility of snorkelling in the famous Hanifaru Bay (Baa Atoll), depending on conditions and availability. Just north of Baa, we will venture into RAA ATILL, one of the most unexplored atolls in the Maldives, regularly visited by mantas and hosting superb dive sites. The vertical walls covered with soft corals, the gardens of anemones and mantas gliding over our heads are just some of the wonders of this region. Before going back down to Malé, we will finally visit LHAVIYANI ATOLL, another spectacular northern atoll. Here, sharks, schools of eagle rays, tuna and other large pelagic fish will be the main characters of our dives with the possibility of meeting more manta rays and diving in one of the most beautiful shipwrecks in the country.
