FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Insurance

As a rule, students are insured through an instructor with one of the diving insurance companies DAN or Aquamed. The insurance is valid only for DSD and OWD courses.

For higher rates such as AOWD and beyond, it is considered that the student must have taken out insurance with one of the diving insurance companies before joining. The contractor is not obliged to inform the student about this.

A Divemaster and Assistant instructor trainee, as well as a certified diver, is considered to have insurance taken out before attending the course itself. The contractor is not obliged to inform the student as well as the already certified diver.

A certified diver must take out insurance with one of the diving insurance companies. By doing so, he safely participates in dives in our organization as well as elsewhere. The contractor is not obliged to inform an already certified diver.

If the diver or student does not have insurance, he bears the costs in the event of an accident or force majeure and is not entitled to reimbursement from the contractor for the costs incurred during, before and after the dive.

Medical examination before taking a diving course

According to PADI standards, a medical examination is not mandatory. At the beginning of the course, each student completes and signs a STATEMENT OF HEALTH, which lists diseases and problems that may be incompatible with diving or may limit it to the student. In case the candidate has any of the listed diseases / problems, he / she undertakes to perform it / them on the statement. In this case, the provider refers him to a mandatory medical examination, the student can continue the course according to the opinion and statement of the doctor. In the case of minors - the papers are signed by parents or guardians

The student also signs a statement of responsibility. In the case of minors - the papers are signed by parents or guardians.

According to PADI standards, a medical examination is mandatory for all professional diving categories - Divemaster & Instructor. For these categories, a medical examination and a doctor's opinion are mandatory. The course provider is obliged to strictly observe the medical certificate.

According to Disabled Divers International (DDI) standards, a medical examination is mandatory. The student obtains the opinion of the appropriate doctor before the course, depending on his degree of disability. Prior to the DDI course, the student is given an appropriate medical form, which the aforementioned doctor writes down with his opinion, which the practitioner is obliged to strictly follow.

Diving equipment

The student can use their own diving equipment or rent it. If he uses his own equipment and due to poor or defective equipment, the contractor would not be able to complete the course of the amount paid. Likewise, the contractor and the instructor ** do not assume any responsibility in case of defective or defective own equipment.

If the student borrows diving equipment from the contractor for the duration of the diving course, he / she undertakes to handle it in accordance with the instructions of the instructor ** and the manufacturer. The equipment must be washed with fresh water upon return and preferably dry, otherwise we reserve the right to charge from 5-15 € for washing the equipment. The student undertakes to handle the equipment in terms of a good master. If, nevertheless, the borrowed equipment fails, the cost of the repair is covered by the course provider, and the student is not entitled to a refund of the loan or any compensation or compensation for damage. If the defect is caused by negligent or incorrect handling of the equipment by the student, the student undertakes to reimburse all costs of eliminating the defect. If the student loses the equipment or steals it, he is obliged to lose or replace the stolen equipment with a new one of the same manufacturer and type, or pay for the equipment according to the retail price list immediately on the bank account of the association.

If the equipment borrowed by the student has been exposed to urea, we reserve the right to charge for cleaning in the dry cleaner's.

If the equipment has been rented and the student or diver has not used it due to illness or force majeure, he is not entitled to a refund of the rent.

Duration of diving courses

The courses are organized flexibly, but within the capabilities of the contractor. In principle, however:

First underwater experience - DSD; 3-4 hours, location according to reasonableness vs. the value of the amount paid.

Initial diving course - OWD; theory 1/2 day, equipment 1/2 day, exercises and 4 dives are divided into 2 days. In principle, the course is divided into theory Thursday 16-20, equipment Friday 16-20, exercises and dives Saturday and Sunday all day from 8:00 to 17:00.

Advanced diving course - AOWD; theory 1/2 day, and 5 dives are divided into 2 days. In principle, the course is divided into theory Friday 16-20, dives Saturday and Sunday all day from 8:00 - 17:00, if it is a night dive with a maximum duration of 2 hours.

First aid - EFR; theory and exercises 1/2 day. In principle, however, the course is divided into Thursdays 16-20.

Diver - Rescue Diver; theory 1/2 day, 9 exercises and 2 scenarios are divided into 1 day. In principle, the course is divided into theory Friday 16-20, 9 exercises and 2 scenarios and Saturday or Sunday all day from 8:00 to 17:00.

Divemaster - by arrangement, individually.

Specialties; generally the theory is 1/2 day, 1-3 dives in the same day as the theory. However, if there are 4 dives for the specialty itself, they hit it in two days, together with the theory from 8:00 to 17:00. If it is a night dive with a maximum duration of 2 hours.

Diving course cancellation

Cancellation of registration after payment of the course, except in case of cancellation of the course by the contractor, is not possible. The provider reserves the right to cancel an individual announced course date if a sufficient number of students have not registered for it. In this case, the student is offered a new date for the course.

If the student does not come to the course and does not inform us about his absence at least one day before the start of the course via email, the amount paid is due! However, if the student is unable to attend the course, he / she has the option to take it at a later date, but no later than the end of the current year from the application. (The season is expected to last from May to September).

I suffer from asthma. Does this mean I cannot learn to dive?

Not necessarily. We will give you a medical form to be signed by your doctor. It is a decision taken by him/her, and not your instructor. Many people with (controlled) asthma dive. Check DDI courses.

I have difficulty clearing my ears when flying. I believe this will stop me from diving. Is this true?

We hear this one a lot! Any residue in the ear caused by infection or wax build-up can make them hard to clear. Often it is just a case of getting some drops from your pharmacist, but if you are worried visit your surgery for a check up.

I qualified as a diver years ago but want to get back into it. What do I have to do?

A refresher session in the pool to brush up on skills, with a scuba review to remind you of safe diving practise, is all you need.
